Initially, I was only toying with the idea of writing a song about the election and Donald Trump. It isn't the sort of thing I normally do and I didn't want to create something that could be thought of as or that felt hokey. That being said, this song went through more of a discovery period than the others. I fought with it until I realized if I didn't choose a clear path lyrically, this song might not work at all in any direction. Once I decided Trump would be the subject, it materialized quickly.
