This is another one of those songs that I start in the middle of nowhere with no thoughts, no ideas or clues what I am writing about. I pick up my guitar, choose a random tempo and drum beat, click record and make something up for 3 or 4 minutes. That's actually how I did most of this album.
If you wonder what this song is about, don't panic, so do I. There are definitely moments where I'm missing my mother, who died of cancer when she was in her early thirties. Much of the time I'm simply assembling words that in my head I think sound good together. You'll read your own meaning into whatever words I use, anyway. It's the composition a whole that you, as the listener, ultimately connect with. Go to YouTube and watch the lyric video. Are you feeling the same thing that I am in the last frame in which you see my face?
Out of all 10 songs on this album, this one stands out to me as the closer. Positioned as the final track with perfection. If this was the last song I ever created, I'd be incredibly proud.
lyrics
Hey! Over here!
Over where? Over here!
I had an eerie feeling
The moment I met you
It was the clearest feeling
And I fell for you
Relax now it’ll be okay
Do you want to live in the city as no man?
You make me feel uneasy
I might be in love with you
I wonder if you can feel me
And how does that feel to you
Relax pal it’s be okay
Relax pal it’s be okay
I was too lost for feeling
Good for any reason
Too tall to tell my time
Was running out
And it was to loud to hear you
And not enough people tried to
To do what they should be doing
To do what they should be doing
To do what they should be doing
To do what they should be doing
It was just that kind of dance
It was just this kind of show
The stagehand gave me direction
Still I had no idea where to go
There’s tape stuck on this floor in places
The same tape that’s on these shoes
There isn’t much time left for general graces
But lemmie see what I can do for you
But is it really up to me?
Is it really up to me?
Is it really up to me?
Or is it up to you?
Deep inside I’ll need a reason
To stick around while you’re not here
Dialogue
La, da, da, da, da, da, da
La, da, da, da, da, da, da
La, da, da, da, da, da, da
La, da, da, da, da, da, da
Relax now you’ll be okay
I was too lost for feeling
Good for any reason
Too tall to tell my time
Was running out
And it was to loud to hear you
And not enough people tried to
To do what they should be doing
To do what they should be doing
To do what they should be doing
Relax now you’ll be okay
Relax now you’ll be okay
Relax now you’ll be okay
Relax now you’ll be okay
Oh I was too lost for feeling
Good for any reason
Too tall to tell my time
Was running out
And it was to loud to hear you
And not enough people tried to
To do what they should be doing yeah
